100 Days for Mandalas – The Gifts of Our Soul -Session 5 – Week 9
March 26th, 2015
Authenticity is a collection of choices that we have to make every day.
It’s about the choice to show up and be real.
The choice to be honest.
The choice to let our true selves be seen.”
“Because true belonging only happens when we present our authentic, imperfect selves to the world, our sense of belonging can never be greater than our level of self-acceptance.”
Brené Brown
The theme for this week is “Authenticity”. The first quote is the same as last week, and a new one just above, are inspirations used during a mandala circle at my studio a few days ago. Karen Martinez created a “Mandala Mobile” inspired by these quotes.
The three mandalas are strung together with purple embroidery thread. The mandalas are made from two pieces of paper, a front and back, both with water colored backgrounds. There are stars that are punched out on both pieces of paper. Sandwiched in between is colored vellum so light can shines through as the Mandala Mobile moves when hung by a window.
Karen’s sister Nancy created a mandala also inspired by the quotes, with the words “show up and be real”.
Christine Torlina used her own hand to create this mandala inspired by what is “real” for her.
