A MONTH FOR MANDALAS – LIGHT

There is light from within and light that shines upon us. Our light comes from deep within our soul, from the womb of our being. It is us, our essence, our truth, our guide and our strength.

Where do we find this inner light? It begins in being and is felt as love. It is found in our heart center and spreads to all parts of our body and beyond. It is a love that permeates each cell of our body and extends beyond our bodies outward. Some say it is a spark of Creator that lives within us all.

As light from our sun grows each day in the northern hemisphere it calls to us to grow our light from within. The growth of greening, blossoms and leaves is taking place already.

On February 1, the midpoint of winter solstice and spring equinox the Celtic celebration of Imbolc, and the honoring of Goddess Bridget take place signaling the stirrings of winter to spring.

There are small signs of spring where I live. The flowers of Witch Hazel, hamamelis, are blooming. No other flowers are to be seen. The calling from the longer light to the womb of Mother Earth gives birth to this green and growing. The warmth wakes up the insects and bees, who are welcomed by the flowers.

The allure of the flowering Witch Hazel called to me as I strolled the gardens of the Missouri Botanical Garden and visited the native Witch Hazel I planted a few years ago in my garden.

I feel the same stirring of longer light and warmth, and the stirring to increase my light within. Becoming one with the beauty of creation stirs the heart, increases light. One way of becoming “one with” is to focus through the heart onto nature, feeling waves of joy, awe and love towards a part of nature, the other. In turn there are waves of beauty, power and purity that come to you from the other. An entrainment harmonizing both takes places. An exchange of light lets both become one.

These flowers shining in the light and the photo mandalas of them stir my soul with a feeling of love toward their beauty. May they stir your soul too.
