A Month For Mandalas-Living Light-part 4

LIVING LIGHT
“Deep in their roots, all flowers keep the light.”
Theodore Roethke
For those new to a month for mandalas – please open this link and read the beginning of blog which explains it all. This is the last in the 4 part series LIGHT.
Our world is made up of living light in the forms of flowers, foliage, fruits, roots and seeds that are shining light, full of life force. Unlike other animate and inanimate forms of our world, plants eat light and transform it into physical forms and colors.
These plant forms give us beauty and nourishment. We take that light into our bodies and transform it into energy that sustains and lets us shine our light into the world.
The color that we see is the wave length of color that is reflected off the surface of an object. A blue flower absorbs all the wave lengths of color except blue. The blue is then a gift from the flower that we absorb through our eyes, body and soul as reflection into our being. The colors of nature are nature’s way of healing us and making us whole. The living colors of plants are some of the most powerful inspirations and healers.*
The beauty and form of flowers, plants and seeds is often expressed in the sacred geometry of mandalas. The center of a sunflower, with intertwining spirals of seeds is the living illustration of the Fibonacci numbers, a mathematical concept that reaches to infinity.
The combination of shapes and colors let us see the meditative mandala flower form. Like all mandalas, flowers let us experience the infinite through the finite sacred shapes and colors of the round centered blossom.
Flowers are living mandalas that give all who look at them an experience of centering and transcendence.
The center of a flower holds the lure and power of life where pollen and nectar draw pollinators into the dance of mating male to female to ensure life will go on.
What a precious gift of light. One of my favorite authors is Robin Wall Kimmerer who states: “I wish that I could photosynthesis, to make food out of light and water, to make medicines and give them away for free, to do the work of the world and for the world, while standing still in the sun.”
Let your creativity bring the light of nature into the world. Create a mandala in the sacred and safe space of a circle. Let the light of nature flow through you as you create. Spend time in nature looking at the beautiful mandalas that are there to be seen and loved. Create a mandala outside with the gifts of nature, full of her colors.
CREATIVITY PROMPT
Gather your art materials. Let these words from the quotes above and below inspire you.

Listen to the meditation and then create a mandala or mandalas that bring the energy and power of LIVING LIGHT into your sacred circle.
Open to your heart center to bring in the light of creation and Creator and all its power and beauty. Let that light enter into you and flow through you as you create. Let that light spreads outward into the world and beyond.
