This is the last week for this session of 100 Days for Mandalas, which started January 14th. Where did those 100 days go?
I have been drawn to using regular manila folders for creating art journaling mandalas. The are like mini-books.
In this beautiful, crazy springtime (deep snow one day, flowers the next) the joy of earth and sky seeps into our bones, body and being. Nature calls to us with its mystery and magic and leaves its imprint on our souls.
There is an artist in Poland named Nespoon, who creates what she calls “jewelry for public spaces.” She works with the mandala shape of doilies, those circular lace shapes that maybe your grandma or great grandmother made.
The spiral of life brings us back to a familiar place, which lets us see the old with new eyes and new inspirations. These are inspirations for new mandalas.
Let these heart mandalas and images remind you to keep your heart open every day of the year. As we leave February, bring the heart energy of this month into all the months and days of your year.
Welcome to Day One of the 2nd session of 100 Days for Mandalas. This is a creativity retreat that will hopefully inspire the making of mandalas. It is a retreat in the quiet time, when the warmth of inner creativity burns as a fire in the center of the soul. There are many ways and reasons to make mandalas. Find your way and your reason, then join in.
My favorite mandala book for 2012 has not only some of the most beautiful simple mandalas I have ever seen, but the true story about how they are created and mysteriously discovered by a French poet in India over twenty-five years ago reads like a combination Indiana Jones and Spiritual Quest adventure story.
